Colors and the creation

Although we perceive color as a substantial thing, and we might want to know the size and weight of it, as we do with physical things, we cannot get to the essence of a color this way.
When we look at colors in the world, for instance precious gems of different colors, we are not seeing the color itself, but a memory of ancient eras comes to our subconscious, from the time those colors were created, and creativity was playing its game.
If we look at the green color of the plants covering our planet, ancient memories will rise, as old as the days of the creation of the land and plantation.
Colors play a big part in our life. They create a bridge between spiritual and the physical, by reminding us of the creativity in the creation, and connecting us to the creativity inside ourselves.

If we are open to our liveliness and creativity, and we look at blue color, we shall experience a feeling of retreat. If we look at red or yellow we will experience forward movement.
This fact is called the perspective of colors.
A painter uses his knowledge about color perspective, and if he wants to express a quiet, retreating- into- the- distance feeling, he will use blue color.

Painting and color is an art a person perceives through his inner being. Wither he is the painter or the watcher, the experience is an event that occur in a person’s soul, affected by the perception of colors. It is a live image of colors in an eternal movement.
Having experienced colors, a man’s soul floats free through the cosmos.
That’s why it is said that color always takes us to a journey in time, and reminds us of the time of the creation.

Colors and our home

What part does color take in our art and posters at home?
What do we mean when we say "a man’s home is his fortress"?

Our home is the place from which we go out to the world. It is a place where we need to relax, be nourished and gain power to face the world again.
A solid and nourishing home base will have all the assets needed: comfort, security food and spiritual nourishment.
Since we are dealing with colors, we will check how colors contribute to support those needs and help us heal our body mind and soul. When we are surrounded by paintings and posters full of colors, our spirit becomes alive and full with creativity.

Design through colors

We like to design our home to fit our needs and fill the purposes of the whole family. Posters, paintings, and surfaces of colors, help to define the function of each room in the house.
The living room for example, is used for diverse functions like family meeting, hosting guests, playing games and more. It is a place of interaction between people. In the living room there is a need for active and exciting colors that create a feeling of warmth and closeness, such as red, orange, and yellow. For balancing it, it’s good to use some Green and Blue that encourage communication.
In more quiet corners of the living room, blue, orange and green will help create a harmonious and quiet atmosphere.

A different example is the bedroom. There, it depends on the atmosphere each person wants to create: loving, tender and sexual, or a quiet one, for good night sleep. Mostly we prefer that our bedroom be a resting place to relax from the rush of the day. Quiet and passive colors like pale blue, green, and pink, that are pale and soothing, will create less contrast and soften the atmosphere.
To a home office, that has now become a common part of many houses, there should be paintings and posters with colors that sharpen ones thinking and awakens creativity and emotion. Such activity is aroused by strong contrasts between colors, such as in blue and red. The reason for this effect is that those colors are too different to combine, and therefore confront each other: the blue is cool and moving backwards and the red is hot and bursting ahead.
But those 2 colors alone could get nothing but stagnation; if not for a 3rd color that can help them affect each other and create harmony. Such colors are green and orange. The process of a picture with all those colors is of a conflict that outcomes a solution. The affect of such a picture on a person working in the office, is deep, intense and energetic.

Children’s room – children are delicate souls that are easily affected by their surroundings. They are constantly loaded by impressions- visual, vocal, and mental.
At the early age, their room should be painted with pastel colors to create a peaceful and warm atmosphere –the right surrounding for young children.
Bright noisy colors can be experienced by children as a thing jumping on them, or retreating quickly, and this can bring to tension and fear.
Youth will need those strong colors, and many contrasts, to reflect their inner experience at that age.

It is easy to see that not only the choice of colors matters in designing your environment. The combination between them also determines if it is harmonic or disharmonic, and thus affects the house in a positive or negative way.
