The agent channel side of telecommunications is rapidly changing as well. Not only are agents selling IP phone systems and services, but the latest trend shows a large shift to a broker business module with the boom of VoIP. Many brokers are seeing the wholesale VoIP call termination and origination services expanding worldwide and offering an endless amount of potential buyers and sellers. The trend is starting to shift agents into bringing buyers and sellers of wholesale VoIP together and brokering the routes and origination services. The cost of the sale for the agents is far lower because everything is done over the internet and payment should always be either prepaid or with a VoIP escrow service. It is important for brokers to factor in the cost associated with escrow when deciding upon their price point.
