There are several methods of treatment for mesothelioma although none of them have a high success rate. In general, the chances of curing a patient mesothelioma depends on how much the cancer has grown and matured processed. If tackle in its infancy, there is a good chance of survival. Because of the difficulty of diagnosis of mesothelioma in its infancy, many mesothelioma treatments focus on improving the quality of life of patients.

Before a patient is being treated then the doctor will determine the best method of treatment is by considering the patient's age, medical history, general welfare and the same weight. From there, the doctor will decide which of the three most common treatments are most appropriate to the patient's condition. These treatments are surgery, chemotherapy and radiation therapy.

Surgery

surgery are two different types. Surgery is an aggressive treatment, which aims to gain control in the long term against cancer and palliative care procedures which aims only to relieve the symptoms of patients.

Aggressive surgery involves removing the pleura, the lung, diaphragm and pericardium. This procedure is known as extra pleural pneumonectomy. The goal is to remove as much of the tumor as possible without harming the patient. However, it is a very risky type of surgery and the risks are high patient mortality within a month. For this reason, only young people, individuals are required to adapt to this form of treatment. Palliative procedures to remove only the pleura to control the symptoms of cancer. This is achieved when the mesothelioma is in an advanced form, and it is impossible to heal.

Chemotherapy

This is the most commonly known cure cancer. Chemotherapy uses drugs to treat mesothelioma although many of these drugs have a low success rate for patients. Combinations of drugs are often used to improve their effect. Some of these combinations have proved effective. Mesothelioma Chemotherapy is improved steadily as research laboratories and pharmaceutical companies are discovering new drugs more effective.

Radiation Therapy Radiation therapy uses radiation to kill the tumor creates mesothelioma. However, this procedure is extremely difficult because of where the tumor is growing. Due to the proximity of the tumor and many vital internal organs like the heart and lungs, doctors must be very careful about the radiation doses they use. Lower doses of radiation can be used, but it reduces its effectiveness.

Dual

This therapy is often used and it is just a combination of surgery, chemotherapy and radiotherapy combined. Surgery removes the majority of tumor cells while chemotherapy and radiotherapy work on the withdrawal of the rest. It is an effective method and also lessens the symptoms of cancer.
