There is a number of webmasters who want to promote their website but don't have time to do advanced SEO (Search Engine Optimisation), they also don't want to spend money on the promotion of website. Is it possible to raise your site's homepage position in SERP's (Search Engine Results Pages) without spending money and too much time?

Although using advanced SEO techniques (which also means spending money e.g. for server rental) will presumably enable you to achieve very good results, it is a time consuming way. You can use specialised tools though which will let you achieve similar effects. The most common way to boost your page's position in SERP's is to use some kind of link exchange scheme - as number of links directly influences page's position in most popular search engines. There is a vast number of such tools available in the Net, some of which are free and some not. The way they work can also differ - link exchange system can use pure html links or boxes, links can be static or rotational, systems may be automated or manual, not to mention interfaces and possibilities they give you or quality of help you can receive from system administrators. Don't hesitate and make research of your own and pick your system-of-choice. As for me doing my website promotion I use Carramba.net link exchange system and it's for number of reasons. It uses pure HTML rotational links and is fully automated which suits me best, it has also number of customisation options making it more precise and effective.

How do link exchange systems work? Majority of such systems are based on similar idea. Putting donor-sites (on which system links will be displayed) gives you points (depending on various factors) which you can spend on links promoting desired site.

Picking a system and adding sites is only a beginning. As a tool link exchange system can produce better or worst results depending on a way it is used. It's extremely important to obey some rules using link exchange system. First of all you should concentrate on anchor text. Do some research on keywords or keyphrases related to your homepages's content. Look for a simple phrase or word on which competition level is fairly low and use it in your anchor. Pick another related keyphrase or keyword and put another link with it as anchor text. Diversification of keyphrases you use in published links should increase traffic on your website. You should also check (by asking other users or conducting your own tests) how much points do you need to get your links displayed on donor-sites. It's easy to spoil points on ineffective promotion so make sure amount of points you assigned for single link will be enough to get it displayed multiple times.

Become acquainted with link exchange system you chose. Read manual (if it's provided), FAQ, check options you can use, contact administrators if you have any doubts concerning system, visit its forum or blog. Simply learn to use it best way.

If you'll abide to simple rules I wrote about in this article link exchange systems will quickly become your favourite website promotion tools. Master usage of these and you will surely be able to successfully promote your site without spending money and lots of time.
