We all know having a family can be expensive. However it doesn’t have to cost the earth to raise a family. Check out our guide to Family Budgeting.
>> Write out monthly food menus - Maybe a pinch time consuming, but can have enormous benefits. Food bills can be greatly reduced, because nothing gets wasted. You don’t have to cook every day, just cook in bulk cook one freeze the other. Weekly food splurges are a thing of the past. Don’t buy biscuits, pizzas or scones make them yourself. Stock up on flour, eggs, dried fruit and margarine, all the basics and it’s a lot healthier. Get the kids involved too. They’ll love it.
>>Buy Bulk - Look out for bulk buys such as bogof (Buy one get one free), or 2 for 1 deals. However only buy it if it’s something you would generally buy. As it will be an extra unnecessary expense. Supermarkets are great at enticing you into a deal when you weren’t planning to buy it in the first place.
>>Loyalty Cards - Save up your points and build up your savings. Loyalty cards work if you stick to 2. Anymore than that you’ll find there isn’t any real value.
>>Benefits- Find out if you’re entitled to any benefits for extra ones. You could be entitled to Family Tax Credit.
>>Discount Cards – familydealscard provides, special offers, and deals for all the family. Families can really save with this site offering savings on Travel, Attractions, Family friendly restaurants, Events, Vouchers and loads more.
>>Comparison Sites – Website’s such as MoneySupermarket.com provide information on how you can save and change suppliers. You can change mortgages, credit cards, Insurance, utility bills even holidays. Some comparison sites give the customer incentives for swapping suppliers such as crates of wine or hotel breaks!
