Almost All these products are based on chemical combinations such as, benzoyl peroxide and salicylic acid, both of which eradicates bacterias that cause acne effectively (and hence acne). You should start with a product that has lower concentration of benzoyl peroxide (e.g. 5%) to check how your skin reacts. Alpha-hydroxy-acid based moisturizers are also popular as acne skin care products. You might have to try some alternative over the counter products before zeroing in a product that best suits you. Consult a skin doctor if nothing works. On-prescription skin care products are those that are suggested by a dermatologist. Dermatologistsmostly suggest these 4 types of medical solutions:
Ointments can be applied on the impacted area. Oral antibiotic drugs are those that are taken along with creams/oinments and can aid just any topical treatment. Dermatologist could also suggest a minor operative procedure to remove the contents of pustules. However, never try to squeeze or do this by yourself, it can lead to permanent damage of your skin. Skin doctors could also prescribe a hormone-based treatment. It should also be noted that, hormonal changes are also known to cause acne.
